Glottis
Glottis Control -Full Lungs
- Stick your tongue out;
- Deeply inhale;
- Hold your breath for 10”;
- Exhale in short bursts while opening and closing the glottis.
Glottis Control - Empty Lungs
- Stick your tongue out;
- Deeply exhale;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Hold your breath for 10”;
- Relax the Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis;
- Inhale.
Soft Palate
Inhale/Exhale –Soft Palate Closed
- Stick your tongue out;
- Inhale through your mouth;
- Exhale through your mouth;
- 10 cycles.
Inhale/Exhale –Soft Palate Open
- Inhale through your mouth;
- Slightly pinch your nose;
- Slightly open your lips;
- Exhale the air through both nose and mouth, while inflating cheeks and nose walls.
Balloon –Soft Palate Control
- Inflate the balloon;
- Let the pressure from the balloon inflate your cheeks;
- Pinch your nose;
- Open your Soft Palate and let your nose walls inflate;
- Open your nose and let the air from the balloon come out through your nose.
Balloon – Soft Palate Control – Glottis Closed
- Inflate the balloon;
- Exhale;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Let the pressure from the balloon inflate your cheeks;
- Pinch your nose;
- Open your Soft Palate and let your nose walls inflate;
- Release your nose and let the air from the balloon come out through the nose;
- Relax the Diaphragm and inhale.
Balloon – Soft Palate Open – Glottis Closed
- Inflate the balloon;
- Exhale;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Let the air from the balloon come out through your nose;
- Relax the Diaphragm;
- Inhale.
Mouth Locks
Every equalization technique requires the closure of your air spaces…
You can close your Nose just by pinching it with two fingers…
You can close(seal) your Mouth in three different ways. Let’s have a look at them…
Lips Lock
Lips Lock – Soft Palate Closed
- Deeply inhale;
- Lock your lips and hold your breath for 10”;
- Your cheeks will inflate;
- The air will not come out of your nose;
- Unlock your lips;
- Exhale.
Lips Lock – Soft Palate Open
- Pinch your nose;
- Deeply inhale;
- Lock your lips and hold your breath for 10”;
- Both cheeks and nose walls will inflate;
- Release your nose;
- Exhale.
Lips Lock – Soft Palate Control (Neutral)
- Deeply inhale;
- Lock your lips and hold your breath for 10”;
- Your cheeks will inflate;
- The air will not come out of your nose;
- Pinch your nose;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- The nose walls will inflate;
- Release your nose;
- Exhale.
T-Lock
T-Lock – Soft Palate Closed
- Deeply inhale;
- Make the T-Lock and hold your breath for 10”;
- Leave your lips open;
- The air will not come out of your nose;
- Release the T-Lock;
- Exhale.
T-Lock – Soft Palate Open
- Pinch your nose;
- Deeply inhale;
- Make the T-Lock and hold your breath for 10”;
- Leave your lips open;
- The nose walls will inflate;
- Release your nose;
- Exhale.
T-Lock – Soft Palate Control (Neutral)
- Deeply inhale;
- Make the T-Lock and hold your breath for 10”;
- Leave your lips open;
- The air will not come out of your nose;
- Pinch your nose;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- The nose walls will inflate;
- Release your nose;
- Exhale.
K-Lock
K-Lock – Soft Palate Closed
- Deeply inhale;
- Make the K-Lock and hold your breath for 10”;
- Leave your lips open;
- The air will not come out of your nose;
- Release the K-Lock;
- Exhale.
K-Lock – Soft Palate Open
- Pinch your nose;
- Deeply inhale;
- Make the K-Lock and hold your breath for 10”;
- Leave your lips open;
- The nose walls will inflate;
- Release your nose;
- Exhale.
K-Lock – Soft Palate Control (Neutral)
- Deeply inhale;
- Make the K-Lock and hold your breath for 10”;
- Leave your lips open;
- The air will not come out of your nose;
- Pinch your nose;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- The nose walls will inflate;
- Release your nose;
- Exhale.

Through the next group of exercises, you will learn how to perform the Frenzel maneuver.
Frenzel – Preparation for Frenzel with Lips Lock
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Partially pinch your nose;
- Open your lower jaw;
- Lock your lips;
- Leave your tongue relaxed;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Close your lower jaw and contract your cheeks: the air from mouth will come out of the nose, inflating your nose walls;
- Relax the Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis;
- Inhale.
Frenzel – Frenzel with Lips Lock
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Pinch your nose;
- Repeat 5 times:
- Open your lower jaw;
- Lock your lips;
- Leave your tongue relaxed;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Close your lower jaw and contract your cheeks: the air will rise from your mouth to your nose, the nose walls will inflate, and you will feel your ears equalizing;
- Relax your Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis;
- Inhale.
Frenzel – Frenzel with Lips Lock – EQ Tool
- Place the “Otovent” on one nostril and close the other one;
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Open your lower jaw;
- Lock your lips;
- Leave your tongue relaxed;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Repeat several times:
- Close your lower jaw and contract your cheeks: the air will rise from your mouth and come out of your nose, inflating the “Otovent”;
- Open your lower jaw and relax your cheeks: the air will flow back from the “Otovent” into your mouth;
- Relax your Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis and Inhale.
Frenzel – Preparation for Frenzel with T-Lock
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Partially pinch your nose;
- Open your lower jaw;
- Make the T-Lock;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Push your tongue up to create a seal with the hard palate, pushing the air from your mouth through the nose, inflating your nose walls;
- Relax the Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis;
- Inhale.
Frenzel – Frenzel with T-Lock
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Pinch your nose;
- Repeat 5 times:
- Make the T-Lock;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Push your tongue up to create a seal with the Hard Palate, pushing the air from your mouth though the nose, the nose walls will inflate, and you will feel your ears equalizing;
- Relax your Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis;
- Inhale.
Frenzel – Frenzel with T-Lock – EQ Tool
- Place the “Otovent” on one nostril and close the other one;
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Open your lower jaw;
- Make the T-Lock;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Repeat several times:
- Push your tongue up to create a seal with the Hard Palate, pushing the air from your mouth though the nose, inflating the “Otovent”;
- Release the pressure on your tongue: the air will come back from the “Otovent” into your mouth;
- Relax your Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis and Inhale.
Frenzel – Preparation for Frenzel with K-Lock
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Partially pinch your nose;
- Open your lower jaw;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Make the K-Lock;
- Push your tongue up and back to create a seal with the Hard Palate, pushing the air from your mouth through the nose, inflating your nose walls;
- Relax the Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis;
- Inhale.
Frenzel – Frenzel with K-Lock
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Pinch your nose;
- Repeat 5 times:
- Make the K-Lock;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Push your tongue up and back to create a seal with the Hard Palate, pushing the air from your mouth through the nose, inflating your nose walls, you will feel your ears equalizing;
- Relax your Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis;
- Inhale.
Frenzel – Frenzel with K-Lock – EQ Tool
- Place the “Otovent” on one nostril and close the other one;
- Deeply exhale;
- Close your Glottis;
- Recall the Diaphragm;
- Open your lower jaw;
- Make the K-Lock;
- Open your Soft Palate;
- Repeat several times:
- Push your tongue up and back to create a seal with the Hard Palate, pushing the air from your mouth through the nose, inflating the “Otovent”;
- Release the pressure on your tongue: the air will come back from the “Otovent” into the oral cavity;
- Relax your Diaphragm;
- Open your Glottis and Inhale.
