Certified Abilities

A Certified AIDA Depth Competition Safety Freediver is trained to provide safety at official AIDA depth diving competitions, covering Free immersion, Constant weight without fins, Constant weight with fins, and Constant weight with bi-fins disciplines. In the near future, only individuals with this certification will be authorized to provide safety for AIDA's depth events.

By participating in these competitions, certified Safety Freedivers accumulate experience points, which are taken into account when selecting safety personnel for prestigious contests like the AIDA World Championships. Safety Freedivers ascend through four levels of recognition, each reflecting the quantity of experience points they have earned.

The certification is part of the comprehensive Vertical Blue Professional Safety Freediver® program, which is designed to unify freediving safety procedures during AIDA competitions. The benefits of obtaining this certification include the official recognition of safety expertise at various levels and increased opportunities to contribute to high-level events.

Equipment

To take the course students will need the following equipment:

  • Low volume (smaller than a scuba mask), clear lensed and flexible mask;
  • Long, full footed fins;
  • Rigid snorkel;
  • Wetsuit;
  • Rubber weightbelt.

These items are available for hire from Freediving UAE and included in the course cost.
